The children started the year with shorter sessions to allow them to settle in to their new surroundings and routines.
Despite the weather forecast predicting rain, we had an excellent turn‐out for the annual Welcome Picnic. Naturally, after a clear day the rain started at 5.30pm, just as families arrived at the Kindergarten, but they were not deterred. A patchwork quilt of picnic rugs covered the floor of the main room and delicious dinners were consumed while the children dodged the droplets and headed for the playground.
It was lovely to see new families enjoy a chat with each other as drop off and pick up during the week can be a busy affair. It’s good to put a name to faces and match children with their grown‐ups.
The raffle prize was a great assortment of gifts, donations and supplies from many local businesses and the winner was very pleased. Show bags were a nice parting gift for each family and we saw several of the bag tags and balloons already in use on the way out the gate.
Thanks to everyone who helped out that evening and to all families, those who braved the weather to come out and to those that couldn’t make it ‐ welcome to the Doncaster Park Kindergarten Community!
Thank you to all the businesses who generously donated items for the hamper and the showbags.
Friendship Lists were distributed, allowing parents to arrange play dates with classmates, coffee catch ups with other parents, or just general communication via phone/email with those that were interested in joining the list.
The children looked very SunSmart during Term 1, in their embroidered Kinder hats, and feeling like big kids in their cool Kinder uniform items – T-shirts, Jumpers and Hooded Jackets.
Thanks to Tracy at Westfield Bakers Delight for your support of our Kinder. Not only do we have an ongoing fundraising program with them, but their delicious Hot Cross Buns for Easter were a big hit with families, too.
At the end of last year a new Doncaster Park Kindergarten Committee was formed, made up of 3 year old and 4 year old parents of children attending the Kinder.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the 2013 Kinder Committee for all their efforts.
The purpose of the 2014 committee is to further the interest and well being of Doncaster Park Kindergarten, its students and staff by:
- encouraging and providing opportunities fort the parents to participate in the kindergarten community,
- promotion the kindergarten and fostering links with the community,
- raising funds for the benefit of the kindergarten, and
- liaising with and supporting ECMS in relation to the management and operation of the kindergarten.
Look out for newsletters from the Committee in your email inbox and your child’s pigeon hole and if you are interested in joining the Committee or helping out in any way, please speak to a Committee Member.
We welcome feedback and appreciate any assistance offered.
